Our Work
For Mamas is dedicated to providing newborn resuscitation training through WHO Essential Newborn Care 1 Course that previously was Helping Babies Breathe. We offer newborn resuscitation training to midwives and other health care professionals. We supply all public delivery centers in Unguja, Pemba and Tumbatu islands in Zanzibar with newborn resuscitation supplies. We have also instituted mechanisms to support sustainability through close partnership with the Zanzibar Ministry of Health, on-job training, development of a clinical nurse educator role and supportive supervision.
Our work started in 2015, by delivering newborn resuscitation training in the rural north of Unguja, Zanzibar. Then our work expanded to the two largest delivery centers on Unguja. Now our work has expanded to encompass all public delivery centers in Unguja, Pemba and Tumbatu Islands. Check out the following articles detailing some of this work.
